Tuscarawas Valley Farmers Market
June 17 @ 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, repeating until October 28, 2020
The Tuscarawas Valley Farmers Market will kick off its 12th season on Wednesday, June 10th from 3:00 to 7:00pm at the Tuscarawas County Fairgrounds in Dover. The market will undoubtedly be very different from what customers are used to, and there will be major changes to how we operate. Under the Ohio Department of Agriculture’s recommended guidelines for farmers market operations during COVID-19, we have canceled all activities that promote social gathering, including cooking demos, live music, food trucks (at this time), Community Partner activities, children’s activities, featured art vendors, food and wine sampling, and seating areas. Additionally, we ask that the 3:00 to 3:30 timeframe be reserved for senior citizens and immunocompromised individuals.
For patrons who want a quick shopping experience, some of our vendors will offer Vegetable Boxes that will contain a variety of in-season produce. Talk to your TVFM vegetable grower on Opening Day about what’s in their Vegetable Box that week…it will change throughout the season!
We strongly recommend the following for our patrons:
- Send one person to do the shopping, if possible
- Wear a face mask
- Wash your hands (handwashing stations and sanitizer will be available throughout the market)
- Allow for at least 6 feet of distance from others, when possible
- Do not handle the products or produce (vendors will bag them for you)
- Do not use reusable shopping bags
- Shop and keep moving
- Keep the flow of traffic moving in one direction
- If you have a fever or are not feeling well, please do not attend the Market
Under normal circumstances, the market is held rain or shine. However, due to social distancing requirements, this season we will not be able to set up under the grandstands on a rainy day, so there is the possibility of cancellations due to inclement weather.
Like most businesses and organizations, we are doing our best to adapt to the ever-changing guidelines as the situation continues to develop, and it is our goal to create a safe environment for our patrons, vendors, and volunteers. It hurts to have to take such drastic measures to limit social interaction because, as is stated at the forefront of the TVFM mission statement, “The Tuscarawas Valley Farmers Market is designed to bring together families, neighbors, visitors, and local food producers to create a sense of community and social gathering, enhancing our quality of life and strengthening our economy…” We may not know what the future holds, but we will do as we’ve always done and evolve with whatever life throws at us. We truly appreciate your support, and we hope the community will help us keep our market safe and healthy for all.
