Gold Rush Competition

With this year’s theme as “The Day After Tomorrow,” the 2021 Gold Rush Competition will once again require the use of: SKILL + ENDURANCE + STRATEGY & LUCK to determine an overall winner.

January 29-31, 2021

The Gold Rush will include:

Trail-side stations requiring outdoor skills
Saturday breakfast and dinner
Sunday breakfast
Saturday lunch for leaders
Free tent camping (cabins are extra)
Unique Gold Rush patch
Competitors will cook chili on the trail for their lunch on Saturday. Additional details will be available as the event gets closer and we have a better understanding of how to keep everyone safe for this event. Those familiar with previous events can expect the same type of competition.

Thanks to Spenser Long, program director, for planning the event this year.

Due to limited parking at camp, please plan to car pool if possible.

Cost is $25 per participant. Tent sites are free for the weekend. Cabin fees are additional.

2021 Gold Rush Sled Equipment List
1 Sled (of any type)
HAT, COAT, BOOTS and GLOVES (EACH MEMBER WITH THE SLED SHOULD HAVE)
Nugget Pouch
Poles = 3- 5ft. & 2- 3ft.
Rope = 5- 10-15ft. Lengths
Wood & Matches or Camp Stove (for cooking lunch)
Food & Utensils (for patrol and judges)
Lunch: Maximum nugget potential requires spending a minimum of 30 minutes preparing a hot cooked meal (Chili)and clean-up afterwards.
Water (personal and patrol)
Grill or Garbage Can Lid (to keep fires off bare ground)
Tarp (approx. 9 x 12 ft.)
Compass (at least one)
Pencil & Paper
Matches
Ax and/or Hatchet (with a sheath)
Hand Saw
Knife
Patrol First Aid Kit
Plastic Bag (for the patrol score card)
Watch (or method of keeping time)
Note: Not all items on this list may necessarily be used. However, if you have all of the items on the list you should be able to complete any required skill for a city.
