The First Ohioans: 14,000 to 8,000 BC
Join us for the April Speaker Series with Brad Lepper discussing, “The First Ohioans 14,000 to 8,000 BC.” The ancestors of the American Indians entered the Ohio Valley sometime after 20,000 years ago. Ohio’s climate was very different then, but the biggest difference between then and now was the amazing variety of animals that roamed over Ohio’s landscapes and which became extinct at the end of the Ice Age. What caused the extinction of the mastodons, mammoths, and other species of big game animals? Was it Paleoindian hunters, climate change, or something else?
