In 2006, 2007, and 2008, completed a newspaper insert with a
complete list of holiday events in local publications. Insert was
co-sponsored by Verizon and in 2008, was

Partnered with Leadership Tuscarawas Class of 2007 on the development
of "History in a Box" which are boxes of historical show and tell items.
These boxes will be used in history classes around the county for student

awarded to a Trenton Avenue Elementary class which allowed them to tour
Railroad Depot and the County Court House. 72 students (83% first time
visitors) toured both facilities on May 22 and learned about the Depot as
well as being invited to sit in on a court room and learn about the local

250 Students were on hand to receive free ice cream and make their own
clay trivet. The clay trivet was painted by the students, and fired in a
kiln and available for the students to pick up the following week.
Central Elementary played host to an "In-House Field Trip." Actors Joe
Bonamico and Don Lane from Trumpet in the Land--- Ohio's Longest Running
outdoor drama were on hand to discuss the show and describe life during
the 1700's. Simon Girty one of the central characters in the production
was portrayed by Bonamico. Special emphasis was placed on how actors
get into "character" for each show and scenes from the show were photo
copied and children from the class were allowed to get up on stage and
act out the scenes with both Joe and Don.
Students from Indian Hills Christian School in New Philadelphia conducted
an archeological dig of the hillside behind the school, rumored to be a
lookout point over the Tuscarawas Valley and Tuscarawas River. Four sites,
16 square feet each, were mapped out and dug. Representatives from
Schoenbrunn Village also assisted the students and staff in using the
